The other thing that comes to mind is if you have a boot floppy you can stick that in and boot it from that, rather than the internal HD

Cool. I thought it was 6 last time??
It definitely was 2 years ago. My cable modem broke and the engineer finally turned up to replace it at 5:50.

I'm guessing it is something with no-ip then, what happens if you try to access the pictures via the IP address and port (if you are using no-ip to forward to a port other than port 80)?
No-IP is only a DNS service, so you don't actually get data through their servers.

they have this service in the UK too but I can't for the life of me remember the number
it's free if they don't recognise the song but 50p if they do identify it
any single part of the song it works with, it's scary

Im using an Intel 320 SSD in my MacBook Pro 15" 2010 and its amazing. The biggest difference is boot times and application startup times. I was annoyed when my MacBook Air with a C2D felt faster than my MacBook Pro with an i5, so i installed this new ssd and reinstalled the OS, now its the fastest computer i've ever used.
I chose Intel mainly because of the trustworthy brand and they seemed to be doing quite well with the X25 series. SSD's are certainly worth it, im never going to buy/build a computer without an SSD in future- its the best upgrade possible.

How old is your PB - there was a battery recall.
It is less than 2 weeks old, and I dont have any cords or anything plugged in.

i had signed up for the text message updates a few days ago... i was stuck at school all morning, and at around 10:30ish got my phone to check it out. I was expecting atleast 5 to 10 messages, like the site said. Instead, I had one. From 8:56 AM saying "the keynote will start in 30 minutes" thats it! i got no other messages at all, and got a friends iphone taken away by trying to check the website, but EDGE was waay too slow, and we got caught..
did anyone else have this issue without getting their SMS updates?
I signed up and received no text messages.

You also need to look at what environment & how many people are going to access that server.
Small businesses don't need much, obviously larger companies need more. You can see this with the Mac Mini which they sell as a server or the Mac Pro for high usage needs.
I would think large companies need more ram and cores then speed alone.

... I tried the apple keyboard for about 5 minutes before it got put back into the box. Anyone want it for cheap?
Being a "full-stroke keyboarder", I like the Apple keyboard. I think you ought to keep it for when you sell your computer in the future, but if you really want to get rid of it, I'm sure there are lots of folks who would like it to use with their PC.

Your best bet is to buy a new MBP, that may sound simple but since you have a variety of different issues, I don't think you will benefit from the repair costs for each specific issue. On top of this, since its warranty has expired, you will need to pay for all repair costs, including hardware, parts and even delivery fees.
Just get a quote from Apple to see how much they will charge you for the repair (obviously this means the laptop will have to be sent to Apple repair warehouse - they don't carry hardware changes in-store). If you see that it will cost a heck-load of cash, it's best to buy a new MBP, or even a 13" Air.

I'll post it elsewhere when I get home. I have seen a number of very similar problems that seem to stem from bad wu's so I'll keep trying. It would be my luck though to have the first wu be bad making me think my set up isn't right.
yeah. let us know if you get it to work. hopefully your setup isn't bad.

I'm an Android guy but I bought an iPad 2. Since I didn't know much of the app store, I bought an app for $9.99 with my mom's credit card (it's on her account). but i wanted to use my 25 dollar gift card, i didn't know you were supposed to redeem it first -___-.
i sent an email reporting it saying it was a mistake. do you think they will revert it or does apple have a no return policy?

I'v been using Windows since my whole life untill 2003 when I switched to Linux. Then used linux for 2 years and when It was time for a new computer I was gonna order a dell laptop. So I found the one I like and ordered it, but the next day I got a e-mail saying that my credit card was rejected...So I went to school and my friend told me about the Mac Mini and I needed a new computer for Video Editin mostly. SO decided to order that with a sexy 17' Samsun LCD. I will Never use windows, but I will have Linux as my second computer, but Mac as the primary one :D
