USCIS has accepted my application and we received the receipts today. Thanks to USCIS. They are being lenient.

Can you tell us when did you resubmit your application and what fee did they accept..old or new. A friend of mine resubmitted his application a few days ago with new fee... his original app was rejected earlier because his attorney sent thre wrong fee amount...(neither new nor old..)

If it is mentioned in I-140 approval, do we supposed to write in I-485 and other applications? As I understand, A# is registration # and which is assigned when I-485 is accepted? Please somebody confirm it.

- Got wife's maiden name changed when I lost her passport... couple of years back. Recollect it took ~a week.
- Present Indian immigration statuc: ECNR, etc. - check your password. It should be ECNR if you've travelled this far... :)
- 16).Alien registration card number/Employment registration card number_____ (i dont have any of these numbers)
Don't recollect needing any of the above numbers.
- In our case, it was new passport in lieu of lost passport.
If you get in early (i.e. before they close for lunch, but preferably as soon as they open) they'll help you out with all that - generally nice & friendly folks in CGI.

If its any comfort, my lawyer said he couldn't think of a reason why tax returns are necessary for filing 485.
Hi,
I wanted to know how critical are the tax returns for GC processing. I am asking this because i have filed the tax returns for 2006 as married even though i got married in January'07.
Now my marriage certificate reflects jan'07 and the tax return for 2006 was filed as joint.
Will this be of issue in the processing? Is there a way out from this, like readjust the tax returns?
Any help in this regard with be greatly appreciated.

:( :( unfortunatelly I don't have 140 copy. :( It seems I can't do anything in this case.
I think you can file an FOIA (freedom of information act) form to get copy of your 140 approval from USCIS. The only problem is that it will take some time to do that.
However, do it in any case. You will need that 140 approval later on, even for filing H1 transfer after your intial 6 years are gone.
Guys and gals: Please use all tactics possible and all negotiating powers possible to get copies of approvals from your employers for your file. Whether its 140 or H1, you should have copies of them. The copies are not employer's properties. The petitions are. A photocopy is a piece of paper that says something. If you have photocopy, doesnt mean you own that H1 or 140. Dont fall for this bullshit that "H1 and 140 are properties of the employer so we cant give it to you". BULLSHIT. If someone has a photocopy of the title of my car, does it mean that he owns that car?? NO. I still own it. Anyone can have a photocopy of it. In fact, DMV does have a copy of it. HAVING XEROX COPIES DONT IMPLY TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OR OWNERSHIP OF PETITIONS.
PLEASE FIGHT THIS BULLSHIT AND TRY TO GET OUT OF THE MESS.

If you want to know the exact job description then labor is the only document which has the complete description. Usually the company will ask to fill some documentation for filing labor and labor is filed based on the available job and your skill set as well (that's what I have seen).

I have applied 485 during the july07 fiasco,I got 2 eads and aps,they have not even touched my case since april08.Is my case preadjudicated?
If you have not yet received any RFE, you are a lucky person and your I-485 application has been filed perfectly. As per USCIS announcements, they have almost completed (99.99%) review of all pending AOS cases and pre-adjudicated most of them. I will presume that your case has been pre-adjudicated and all set to go Green whenever visa number is available.
One way to find out whether your case been pre-adjudicated is to call USCIS thro POJ method and talk to a IO (not customer service person) and they will be able to tell you.

What if a 07/24/06 Y version of 485 is used while filing between July 30th to Aug 17th? The FAQ says that it should be version 07/30/07 Y. Any help is appreciated.

Your Emp A may say anything, but if he revokes your I-140 before you file AC-21, then you will be in trouble. It is always safe to file CA-21
