history will look back and focus on the day Apple got into bed with Intel as being the turning point for Apple computer sales. market share has been steadily on the rise since then.
The funny thing is that I'm one of those people that was convinced that once Apple was able to run Windows XP, I could buy a Mac. So, I bought one, loaded WinXP thru Bootcamp and the only time I use it is for my taxes.
I thought I'd need office, but it wasn't long before I just bought a copy of OfficeMac 2004 and I've never looked back. I haven't booted into XP since last Oct 15th. Go figger.
It's funny how that works. It's a safety net... you won't do something till you have it, but it turns out you don't really need it.

Dfu mode restore didn't work either. Usually it will come back responsive after some time which makes me think it is a background task that is killing the iPad.
Also after the dfu restore the NoteTakerHD ink mode was definitely much more responsive.

my answer is yes and no. I'll explain if this puzzles you.
Yes, I did make my Lion a major OS of use on my main machine.
No, I did not upgrade my Snow Leopard installation.
What I did was install it on a partition on a secondary drive in my tower, but I tend to use lion and the snow leopard partitions equally. I usually end up switching back and forth after a week or so of using each. both contain most of the same programs and bookmarks so I can easily do some work no matter which side i'm on, thankfully I haven't had too many issues with programs not working in lion. I did a clean install of lion DP1 and then wiped that and did a clean install of DP2 and have since just done the recommended updates. so yes, I did upgrade my main machine to lion, and no I don't use lion as my sole OS.

Hi all,
Just curious to see how many have a apple laptop and and Ipad. Work just bought me a MBP last week and I already have a Ipad 2. Just trying to justify the two, maybe I sell the ipad 2 because I have to keep the laptop. By the way, I love both of them...I use the Ipad 2 for reading books, magazines etc...

They just got all spanking brand new computer equipment at the school where my wife works, and the various departments were supplied with multifunction units.
Guess, what? It sure didn't take too long for them to break down and/or malfunction. They never bothered repairing them, they just exchanged them for separates.
As incredibly vague as that is, it doesn't help anyone. I'm guessing that those were probably Lexmark (or Dell, which are the same thing) units as my parents' Lexmark all-in-one broke after about a year while my Epson CX5200 is still going strong for them and my CX6400 is not quite a year old but working well.
However, had Canon had all-in-ones available at the time I got the CX6400, as they do now, I would have gone for a Canon model instead.

I have a 15" PBG4 1.25ghz and am having some screen artifacts show up. Everything is running fine otherwise. I haven't used this machine at all in months and I'm trying to clean it up to sell it. Any info would be helpful.

Yeah hopefully. It's definitely been a slower process than the previous generation MacBooks. And it probably doesn't help that I'm a college student who probably doesn't treat his computer as nice as he should :p

Can you take the check to the company store and have them do a special/bto order, so you pay there but get it sent to you from the factory?
I have to take the check to the store. I'm just not sure what their policy is on upgrades. I read on the forums that sometimes they keep iBooks with bigger HD's in stock because it's a popular upgrade.

Well, the technicle side is flawless as it validates as perfect XHTML 1.1 along with CSS. Yay! The design is also nice and relaxing, the colors are easy on the eyes, and I have seen no bugs in Firefox 1.5 RC3. Double yay!

Try a Thinkpad T-series. Best-built for the money, with user-replaceable parts (try finding that on most machines today), and a keyboard that puts all others to shame.
ThinkPad displays suck, otherwise a nice computer. Huge mistake on Lenovo's behalf imo.

Last time I jailbrok was my 3G, Now I have an i4 with 4.3.2 and when they went untethered recently I jailbroke.
I havent used many themes long enough to be sure, so this might just be the theme I'm using. However with the Aquarium theme, and I suspect many others, every day I get several banner ads that pop up in the background, behind the icons.
What the heck is the deal with that? I don't need what should be a static background image pulling web content to serve me up ads.
Is this a thing the developer of the theme controls, is it a consequence of having the jailbreak, or something else?
More importantly how do I turn it off.
I searched the forum but could not find a thread that covered this.

The thing about this two keyboards is that they are not easily available in the uk, and that they are quite expensive if you can find them online.

Chrome relies on the Webkit engine to render content. Lion contains a verison of Webkit that's newer than anything currently available. Therefore, Chrome is broken and will stay broken until Google developers release a version that makes use of the newer engine.
I don't think this is correct. Chrome may have incompatibilities with Lion, but it rolls with its own version of Webkit. It's not like Chrome is a different UI for the version of Webkit Safari uses.
