Hi Guys & Gals,
I'm going to make the jump to an Intel SSD this weekend to replace my stock 320GB (5400 RPM) Drive in the 2010 Mac Mini.
Those of you that have actually done this, did you find that the Logic Board really needed to be shifted at all? I've been looking at the OWC installation Video and it would seem to me that the drive will lift out over the Logic Board without moving the board at all. It would mean that I would only have to detach the first SATA and two heat connectors. The least amount of connectors I have to pull the better I would assume. Also, I'm thinking that the black vinyl covering wrapped around the 320GB drive is there to protect the moving/electrical drive components on the bottom of the drive, which I would not need on the SSD. I know that I need/should replace the piece of tape to hold the heat sensor wire on the new SSD.
Any help would be great.....:)
2010 Mac Mini (2.4MHz - 8GB RAM Intel 80GB SSD(pending)) Air Port Extreme, 2TB Mini Stack External Dive, 16GB WiFi iPad, 32GB iPhone 3GS.
I have not done an SSD per say, but I have made a little side business upgrading the hard drive on 2010 Mac Mini's and selling them on ebay. After having done 10 or so of these, yes you do need to pull the logic board out slightly. The hard drive will not lift up enough to give you the angle you need clear the logic board with out pulling it out.
That said, only pull it out enough to see a small gap of air between the black beisl in the rear and the alum case.
WRT the heat sensors... I have found that the smallest amount of rubber cement works well if you you loose the adhesive when transferring the sensor. 8/10 times you will have plenty of stick left though and wont need to add any.
The black cover I have also assumed was there for air flow as well. If the SSD has a smooth surface, and no logic board to short, you probably can do away with it.

I like updates for Mac OS X.
Ha ha! I thought I was the only one. This is one of the great things about owning a Mac.

Question:
Should a mac pro server have less speed and more grunt, whereas a workstation have more speed and less grunt?
Thoughts and feelings on it
( I have to deploy some osx servers but a master workstation does a huge amount of work, so trying to spend the cash best)

I seem to be able to receive packets from outside my LAN...
what I do not understand is why I cannot establish a connection with a telnet call...
Pretty simple. You are on your LAN, not the Internet. Use your local IP and it will work fine. If you are connected to the Internet from somewhere outside your LAN, use your router's public IP address.
If you try to connect to your routers public IP address from inside, it won't route back. Some routers can be configured to do that, but most can't.
Since your firewall appears to be correctly opened, the problem is either that you're trying from within the LAN, or there is another firewall between the computer running telnet and your router that stops the traffic.

The best routers from what I've read seem to be from Netgear and Linksys.
I have the WGT624 revision 2, and it works pretty well with my Powerbook. Netgear also upgrades the firmware, but not as much as Linksys. The 624 has some extra features over the cheaper Netgear routers and so that is why I went with it. It is a little tricky to setup all the security features, but after a couple of tries you should be able to figure it out.

I am considering having my teeth whitened - my dental practice is offering 100 off at the moment so it's *only* 495
Sounds like a lot of money i know, but let's put this into perspective, a 20" ACD is still more expensive!
The procedure is called Brite Smile and involves having a bleaching gel applied to your teeth which is then activated by an intense blue light. This is done in three 20 minute sessions so in just over an hour they claim to whiten your teeth by up to 9 shades.
So does anyone have recent experience of this? Are the results really that good and does it last a while (literature i've got here says about 2 yrs)? I was at the dentist yesterday and the receptionist said she'd had hers done last week and they did look really good, but then i don't know what her teeth were like beforehand.
is there anyone in the UK that's had this done and if so how much did you pay?

I wouldn't say I abandoned my point and shoot but I do use it a lot less. The iPhone 4 camera is really good for a phone camera, but IMO it's doesn't take as well of pictures as a point and shoot.

You may have missed the "wireless" in the thread title: Full size Apple Wireless Keyboard with numberpad?
At least it was worth another resurrection by a newcomer.

You could take all the things people hate about gamertags, and then be really ironic and thus the coolest mofo on XBL :p
So... random Xs, random numbers, lots of l33t, the usage of a famous character's name as though it were your own... *and off the gamertag machine goes...*
XxX_s3xI_m45T3R_69_cH3f_pWnz4g3_xXx_91
Classic, just classic!
I'd prefer just Se><1_m4573R_cH3F though, very funny!

Samsung's new "Super" AMOLED are actually somewhat visible outside. They are an improvement in that respect. Besides that, it will have inferior color reproduction and (IMO) over-saturated colors.
oh, so you've seen both screens already?

I got a Griffin "Elan Passport Metal" case from Best Buy with a cover flap. $23 or so. Doesn't look half bad. Should do the job.

I know Quark 6 is a horrible clunky nightmare but this is weird.
There's not the slightest chance you've been working on a different document? I've occasionally done it before...
What back-up software are you using? Most programs will alert you if a file of the same name has an earlier modification date...
What file info did you 'play around with'?

Seems like a pretty good choice. I didn't realize anything was beating the Vertexes, although it's been about a year since I went shopping. (The IBM's were always a little faster, but a lot more dollars as well.)
